Although Gail Carney died in December 2015, we have preserved her faculty listing as a tribute to her outstanding contribution to the Neufeld Institute and her loving involvement with the many individuals in our training programs, including those who expressed interest in, or applied to our training programs. Gail was able to administer with the softest toughness, provide feedback without judgement, and make the kinds of decisions that everyone else would shrink from. Gail was an artist and a scientist as well as a mentor and an administrator. The Neufeld Institute was the benefactor of her retirement from Emily Carr University where she served as an administrator for many years. Gail was honoured with an appointment as faculty emeritus in 2014. For more about Gail, please visit our Gail Remembered page.
In memory of Gail’s significant involvement during the foundational years of the Neufeld Institute, a scholarship fund has been set up in her name - The Gail Eleanor Carney Memorial Scholarship Fund (donors receive a charitable receipt). In keeping with Gail’s own interest areas, the scholarship fund is to offset tuition for deserving internship candidates who demonstrate a strong theoretical mastery of the attachment-based developmental approach as well as an appreciation of the classical literature on one of the following areas: attachment, evolution, children’s literature, or art history. Gail mastered them all and much more, but we do not expect anyone to be able to fill her shoes.
