What most brings people to our courses is some hope that we can be of help with a particular problem they may be encountering. Dr. Neufeld has honoured this by isolating the key insights and interventions that are needed to address the most common problems encountered by the adults who are involved with children. These courses aim to restore hope, understanding, and practical confidence to parents and professionals alike.
Contrary to what most people think, the developmental approach is not about ages and stages, but rather about steps in the unfolding of human potential when conditions are conducive. Tragically many do not grow out of the immaturity that characterizes the preschooler, or actually grow through the rites of passage to true adulthood. Knowing what should happen during these critical times provides a special understanding not only of children and youth of this age, but of all of us.

The work of true play is the great hidden secret of our time. When the brain is in the work mode, development leaps ahead, attachments are served, and emotions are cared for. The science of play reveals the very mind of Nature and gets to the heart of the developmental approach. This material reveals the kind of play children most need provides practical suggestions for how to enable it.
This trio of courses lays out Neufeld's articulation of the attachment-based developmental approach in a logical way that it can be mastered, internalized and thus applied to every situation and circumstance. The Intensive One is the signature and flagship course of the Institute, with the Intensive Two distilling our most common troubles to their essence. The Intensive Three takes a walk through the six roots of attachment and can be used for self-understanding as well.

Our ability to make sense of our children and ourselves will only be as good as the model of attachment we are employing. Neufeld's comprehensive model is a theoretical masterpiece - the result of putting the puzzle pieces together from many theorists, including the natural sciences, and has profound implications for application across all ages and all arenas of human interaction – parenting, teaching, marriage, therapy, as well as personal growth.
If mastering the attachment-based developmental approach is the aim, then these five courses are a must. Together they create a comprehensive three-dimensional model that will generate insight and inform interaction, whatever the arena of application: parenting, teaching, therapy, marriage or personal growth.

These three courses represent the three greatest challenges of our day. Hypersensitivity has become epidemic. Most children now have parents they were not born to. And children have never been more at risk for being hurt emotionally. Neufeld's approach has surprising solutions to all three problems.
Although this approach is universal in application, these five arenas stand out for special consideration and speak specifically to the challenges most likely to be experienced, whether a parent, educator, counselor or therapist.
The greatest sins against development are pushing for results before there is the prerequisite readiness, or trying to do Nature's work for it. Empathy, resilience and maturity represent three of our greatest values in raising kids, and also our greatest temptations for getting ahead of ourselves. Knowing the developmental blueprint is our best bet for helping Nature to do what only it can do, grow children up to be fully human and humane.
