Living with an ‘Asperger’s child’ can be intense, frustrating, and confusing. How is it possible that my child can act like an all-knowing science teacher one moment and a tantruming toddler the next? Or be able to perform astonishing mathematical calculations while not being able to understand the basic emotions of others? How do I make sense of these glaring discrepancies?
In this webinar, Jule will explore the consequences of hypersensitivity for the emotional development of such children. What happens to a child when his or her brain is overloaded with more stimuli than it can process? How does the brain respond to such a situation? What developmental price is paid for this response? And finally – how can we help? If we understand what it is that our children with ‘Asperger’s’ need from us for their emotional development, and if we can also harness the power of play in support of this development, we will be able to remove or reduce many of the impediments that are standing in the way of the unfolding of our child’s individual potential.
