Having to raise a child that’s “different” is not easy. You are exhausted. Your child seems so distressed, unhappy, frustrated, anxious, or just non-responsive. Others notice. You wonder what they are thinking. Do they think it is your fault? Is it your fault? Why can’t your child be like the others? Why does your child have to attract so much attention in public? Why does your life have to be so hard? It’s not fair! You find yourself feeling ashamed, guilty, uncertain, angry, afraid. Exhausted and full of uncomfortable feelings, it’s hard to turn to your child with loving eyes and invite them into your world. But this is exactly what your child is needing from you most.

In this webinar for parents and professionals, Jule will explore the importance of extending a generous “invitation to exist” to our children diagnosed with autism. What does this invitation really mean and what does it do for a child? How can we find it in ourselves to extend it? And how can we communicate it in a way that the child can hear? When we can open our hearts to our own adaptive processes and harness the power of attachment play, we can find that twinkle in our eyes again and authentically invite a child to bring all of who he or she is into our shared world. If we can do this, we have found the password for opening the door to the unfolding of both our own and our child’s potential.
